Dear Parents, Carers and Friends of Cavendish School,

As we approach Christmas, I am writing to you at the end of our second term. We have had a very busy and productive start to the academic year. We are proud to be officially opening our Primary Phase building, which is already benefiting both phases with its new and modern learning environment. Pupils and staff are also benefiting from joint work across both phases. A highlight for me was when Google came into our school to demonstrate to teachers and students how lessons could use headsets to virtually take them anywhere in the world!

I would like to draw your attention to a couple of events in the coming weeks:

Christmas Music Concert – Thursday 08 December at 7pm in the Secondary Phase hall.
Enjoy an evening of live music and festive celebrations. Enjoy performances of music, readings and carols from pupils and staff. The cost will be £5 per person and £3 concessions.

PTA Christmas Market – Saturday 10 December 12 noon – 3pm in the Primary Phase hall.
There will be a range of stalls and attractions for you to get those last minute Christmas gifts. Free entry!
If you have donations for tombola prizes or toy stall items, please hand them into the Secondary or Primary Phase reception areas: FAO PTA/Trudie Godfrey. Secondary parents, you can also buy tickets for the raffle and the barrow of booze via Parentpay at £1 each.

Christmas School Lunches – Secondary Phase 19 December & Primary Phase 20 December.
Lunches will be free to Reception and Year 1. Year 3 parents will receive a letter later this week regarding arrangements. Secondary Phase pupils will be informed of arrangements by their form tutors. Please note for both phases this will be the only meal provided by the school. If pupils do not wish to eat a Christmas dinner, they should bring in a packed lunch from home.

The last day of term is Wednesday 21 December.
This will be a Christmas jumper non-uniform day for pupils in return for a suggested donation of £1 for Save the Children Charity. The school will close at normal times for both phases (Primary Phase 3pm with after school club running as normal until 6pm. The Secondary phase will finish at 3.10pm).

Term 3 begins on Tuesday 3 January 2017 for all pupils (8.40-9.00 am for Primary Phase pupils and 8.35-8.40 for Secondary Phase pupils).

Finally, I look forward to continue to work in partnership with you and would personally like to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.

Best wishes

Peter Marchant
